Anti-procrastination Strategy

Chunking the Task. I chunk my major exploration project into four different parts. Compared with the whole project, each of them is smaller and much easier to handle. So the possibility of procrastination has been minimized.
This is the Time Wasters. By using this strategy, I know what kind thing is wasting my time. So I can avoid those time waste activities in the future.

This week the topic is procrastination. Procrastination is always bothering me. Before starting to finish my assignment, I might decide to do something else first. And none of them is that emergency. For example, checking mail-box, browsing some websites, or doing laundry. All of these things are not neither important or necessary at all. They should not become an excuse to avoid the activity that I clearly understand I need to do. In order to deal with procrastination problem, I used two different strategies, they are Time Wasters and Chunking the Task.

Time Wasters are the activities which can avoid your important tasks, such as Television, Video games or somehting like that. Basically, those things are wasting your time, so that is why we call them "Time Wasters". And this strategy will help you figure out which kind thing is your time wasters and what kind task is being avoided. Knowing your enemy is the first step to overcome them. However, to be honest, it is sort of impossible to eliminate all the time wasters, but you do can decrease them.

The second strategy I tried is Chunking the Task. This is very simple but also very useful. Generally speaking, one of the main reason why we tend to procrastinate is becouse the assignments are too large or maybe too difficult. Nobody wants to get theirselves tired, so we will choose procrastination. For example, when I face my tons of mathematics homework, the very first thing comes to my mind is not " let's get this done now, or we should finish this as soon as possible", what I am thinking is " can we do this later?" However, by using Chunking the Task, you can chunk the task into some easy and possible units, so you won't be afraid of the one huge impossible mission.

There are many other good strategies to avoid procrastination, such as Rewards and Form a Partnership. They are all very interesting and efficient. But I like Time Wasters and Chunking the Task more.
