Blog: Motivation
Motivation is what push one to achieve a certain target or goal. For this reason, it is important to identify one’s motivation for a certain target. Therefore, this way one will be more motivated to work harder. For myself, I am mainly motivated to do well in classes for several reasons which are getting good grades for self-satisfaction and self-esteem, make my parents proud, get into good graduate school. From CLS 105, there are several motivation techniques that I tried and it has been successful. This includes, academic fears and exploring rewards.
The first method that I use is Academic Fears. This method basically identifies an individual’s fear, which is behind one’s lack of motivation. For this reason, by identifying one’s fear, one would not only feel less safe but is more motivated to work hard. The steps that one takes toward Academic Fears are 1. List three academic fears and rank them 2. Choose one’s worst fear and describe what need to be done 3. Describe the best thing that can happen and 4. Hat one need to work on in order to make the best results. Shown below is my Academic Fears. It worked well and helps me motivate so much more when preparing for a exams, or small quizzes.
